Social Work at Melbourne: strong start to 2009
Increasing demand for our Master of Social Work (MSW) has led to a 20% boost in enrolment numbers in 2009.
The MSW has attracted a diverse group of Australian and international students who bring a range of backgrounds and experience to the program. These students will commence their first placements in May, and are currently undertaking key foundational subjects.
Our Master of Advanced Social Work for already qualified social workers remains popular, with the recently revised program offering students greater flexibility in their studies.
Research programs have seen strong demand, including the Master of Advanced Social Work (Research), which was introduced in 2008 following consultation with national and international industry partners.
The School has continued its success in Australian competitive grants, securing a number of PhD scholarships in the last year, which have led to expansion and consolidation of its areas of research strength and expertise.
The attractiveness of our programs is further indicated by ongoing demand from international students.
