Thinking of a career in academic research?
Interested in pursuing a research degree in areas such as mental health, trauma and resilience, ageing and disability, child and family welfare, or inequality, social justice and social policy?
Our PhD, Master of Philosophy and Master of Advanced Social Work (Research) programs offer these opportunities.
As one of Australia's leading centres of social work research, Social Work in the Melbourne School of Health Sciences offers a number of options for postgraduates looking to develop advanced research skills. Graduate research at Melbourne can broaden your career pathways, developing you as a researcher and enhancing your leadership opportunities in your specialty practice area.
Entry to a research degree requires prior research experience, equivalent to 25% of a year's assessment at fourth year level or higher. These include an honours year, a masters degree or other equivalent qualifications such as postgraduate diplomas.
